Welcome to
Roth Proofreading
As a qualified professional copyeditor and proofreader, I aim to exceed my clients' expectations, going above and beyond the expected services of correcting spelling, grammar, and punctuation. To add value, I identify more subtle errors missed by most automated spellcheckers and grammar tools. These include homophones, idiom wording, ordering of cumulative adjectives, U.S.- or U.K.-specific spellings, use of numerals vs. spelled out numbers, and more. For copyediting specifically, I provide suggestions for improved content flow and consistency of tone and voice. In addition to my training through Proofread Anywhere and Grammarist, I use credible sources such as The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster as a style guide; I also communicate with each client individually regarding specific style preferences based on the type of voice they wish to use for their project.
Proofreading
-
Proofreading is the final stage in the editing process for any piece of writing prior to publication. The purpose of the proofreading stage is to catch any grammatical errors missed in previous editing stages. Roth Proofreading provides proofreading services for newsletters, blogs, manuscripts, academic articles, and more. If you don’t see your project in this list, email me via the contact form below, and I would be happy to advise whether my services will be a good fit.

Copyediting
-
While copyediting does involve grammar corrections, it is distinctly different from proofreading. A piece of writing should be copyedited before its final proofreading stage because copyediting involves more advanced edit suggestions. This includes adjusting sentence structure, clarifying internal dialogue, and making new paragraph breaks to ensure content flow. Roth Proofreading provides “Copyediting only” and “Copyediting + Proofreading” packages.

Copyediting corrections/suggestions will include:
Re-wording confusing syntax
Sentence re-structuring for clarity or wordiness
Changes in paragraph breaks for content flow
